Computer Lab Scheduling Policies
- Individual reservations must be made at least
2 weeks prior to the requested date of use, but
it is to your advantage to make your request as early as
possible. Full-semester reservations are due to us the same
date that classroom requests are due to the Registrar's
office, but can be requested as much as 2 years or more
in advance.
- All reservations are done on a first-come, first-serve
basis.
- All requests are subject to availability.
- All requests must be in written form. They can
be submitted via the web (http://microlabs.msu.edu,
click on Forms, click on Computer Lab Reservation Form),
e-mail (mlsched@msu.edu),
fax (353-9060), or mail (Computer Lab Scheduling Office,
324 Computer Center). We do not take requests over
the phone. Contact us by phone (432-5311) or e-mail us and
we will e-mail you a form. You should receive an e-mail
message from us acknowledging the receipt of your form within
one week. If you do not receive such a message, please contact
us 432-5311.
- Your reservation is not official until you have
received a confirmation e-mail. This e-mail contains the
specifics about your reservation. This e-mail will not be
sent until your reservation has been scheduled, checked
and rechecked. No confirmations of reservations are made
by phone. If you have any questions about the status of
your request, please contact our office.
- All computer lab reservations can be viewed on the web
at http://microlabs.msu.edu, click
on All Computer Lab Reservations. This is the official computer
lab schedule. The weekly schedules posted outside the computer
labs may not contain last minute changes.
- No changes can be made to computer lab schedules after
Tuesday night of the preceding week. This is when the weekly
schedules are printed for distribution to the labs. If there
is a cancellation after this time and the reservation is
being billed, then charges will be billed for anything that
has already been incurred. In addition, a late fee may be
added to your bill.
- The instructor can choose to take his/her class to a
computer lab that does not have a class reserved in it.
When an instructor chooses to use a computer lab without
a reservation on the printed schedule, they may instruct
in the computer lab but cannot ask others to leave or refuse
entrance to anyone.
- Special approval is required for any reservation longer
than 4 hours per day during the last two weeks of Fall and
Spring terms plus finals week (3 weeks in all). At the end
of each term the computer labs are needed so that students
can complete assignments.
